DEEZ NUTS + THE ACACIA STRAIN + UNITY TX + BROTHERS TILL WE DIE: Tarde de amigos y música en Bilbao

Tras el bolazo que dieron Teenage Bottlerocket y Maverick el miércoles, llegaba un fin de semana en el se avecinaban curvas. 

El viernes teníamos un concierto que llevábamos esperando desde antes de la pandemia: Por fin llegó el día de ir a ver a Deez Nuts. 

Y eso no es todo, porque además nos coincidía con la celebración de cumpleaños de un buen amigo en Bilbao al que teníamos muchísimas ganas de volver a ver y que no se pierde un sarao. Así que allí íbamos todos hacia Euskadi deseando llegar y encontrarnos con el resto de amigos, dar abrazos, reír juntos y, por supuesto, pegarnos una buena comilona antes del bolo para ir cargaditos de energía.

Ya en la sala, los horarios se cumplieron a rajatabla. Llegamos unos minutos comenzados Brothers till we die, ya que éramos muchos y movilizar a todos a la vez es complicado. Realmente fue un concierto de tarde, ya que la apertura de puertas era a las 18.45 y la banda madrileña comenzó a las 19.10. Una media hora de bolo (con 4 grupos  en el cartel tampoco se puede más) en la que cada miembro de la banda dio todo de sí en una sala llena ya desde el inicio, y durante la que disfrutamos de su hardcore -metal casi tanto como si de unos cabezas de cartel se tratara. 

Breve receso y turno de Unity TX. Ya me había dicho un colega que los vio días antes en Madrid que no me los perdiera (no pensaba perderme a ninguno, la verdad). Mucha fuerza desde el comienzo y una mezcla de hardcore, metal y hip-hop perfectamente elaborada y defendida en el escenario, aunque, para ser sinceras, tal vez un poco invariable. Aún así, fue un buen bolo.

Con The acacia strain nos pasó algo similar. De primeras nos enganchó con el primer tema, con su energía, vitalidad y su hardcore de toda la vida, pero nos faltó algo. También ocurre que no es lo mismo ver un concierto desde la primera fila que desde el final de la sala, pero había que guardar fuerzas para el plato fuerte. Si bien es cierto que dieron un buen bolo, nos faltó ese "algo". Eso sí, no se quedaron  cortos en motivación y ganas. Se les veía a gusto y a veces eso es lo más importante. 

Y llegó la guinda del pastel. Momento de Deez Nuts: tal vez llevábamos las expectativas demasiado altas o teníamos demasiadas ganas, porque a pesar del gran sonido de la sala durante las 4 bandas, esperábamos más. Ganas y actitud sobraron, pero faltó esa "chispa". No sé si sería por la falta de bajista, ya que la banda no ha querido sustituirlo tras su fallecimiento. Pero estuvo presente en un gran cartel con el que lo recordaban: " SK 4eva". Qué queréis que os diga, para mí eso dice mucho de ellos. Todo nuestro amor.

No faltó el stage diving durante todo el bolo y nos divertimos muchísimo, eso sí, aunque, como decimos siempre, "la compañía es más importante que cualquier evento" , y la nuestra era inmejorable (os queremos hasta el infinito). 

No quiero terminar sin contaros algunas cosillas que me llamaron la atención, así que hoy, en el apartado de curiosidades:

JJ, vocalista de Deez Nuts, se pasó toda la noche en el stand de merch haciéndose fotos con todo el que se lo pedía. Es majísimo, por cierto.

El cantante de Unity TX se pidió una copa y tenía que pagar, lo cual me chocó y se lo comenté. Sí respuesta: no me importa, además no creo que la camarera sepa quiénes somos. Olé tus huevos tío, esa humildad y buen rollo es lo que necesita el mundo ❤️.

Y  como colofón, algo que me llamó muchísimo la atención: La sala, la Stage Live de Bilbao,es más barata que cierta conocida sala de Oviedo a la que vamos muchísimo. Ahí lo dejo.

Como siempre, por unos motivos y otros, otra noche que estas rubias recordaremos para siempre.

After the great gig that Teenage Bottlerocket and Maverick gave on Wednesday, it was a weekend in which curves were coming. 

On Friday we had a concert we had been waiting for since before the pandemic: Finally the day to go to see Deez Nuts arrived. 

And that's not all, because it also coincided with the birthday celebration of a good friend in Bilbao who we really wanted to see again and who never misses a show. So we were all on our way to Euskadi looking forward to meet the rest of our friends, give hugs, laugh together and, of course, have a good meal before the show to get charged up with energy.

Already in the room, the schedules were fulfilled to the letter. We arrived a few minutes after the beginning of Brothers till we die, as there were many of us and mobilizing everyone at the same time is complicated. It was really a late concert, since the doors were scheduled to open at 18.45 and the band from Madrid started at 19.10. A half hour of gig (with 4 bands on the bill you can't do more than that) in which each member of the band gave their all in a room full from the beginning, and during which we enjoyed their hardcore-metal almost as much as if they were headliners. 

Short break and Unity TX's turn. A colleague who saw them a few days before in Madrid had already told me not to miss them (I wasn't planning to miss any of them, to be honest). A lot of strength from the beginning and a mix of hardcore, metal and hip-hop perfectly elaborated and defended on stage, although, to be honest, maybe a bit unvaried. Still, it was a good gig.

With The acacia strain something similar happened to us. At first we were hooked with the first song, with their energy, vitality and their hardcore of all life, but something was missing. It also happens that it is not the same to see a concert from the front row than from the end of the room, but we had to save our strength for the main course. While it is true that they gave a good show, we lacked that "something". However, they did not fall short in motivation and desire. They looked at ease and sometimes that is the most important thing. 

And then came the icing on the cake. Deez Nuts moment: maybe we had too high expectations or we were too eager, because despite the great sound of the room during the 4 bands, we expected more. There was plenty of desire and attitude, but the "spark" was missing. I don't know if it would be because of the lack of bass player, since the band didn't want to replace him after his death. But he was present in a great poster with which they remembered him: "SK 4eva". What can I say, for me that says a lot about them. All our love.

There was no lack of stage diving during the whole gig and we had a lot of fun, of course, although, as we always say, "the company is more important than any event", and ours was unbeatable (we love you to infinity). 

I don't want to finish without telling you some things that caught my attention, so today, in the curiosities section:

JJ, vocalist of Deez Nuts, spent the whole night at the merch booth taking pictures with everyone who asked him. He is very nice, by the way.

The singer of Unity TX asked for a drink and had to pay, which shocked me and I told him about it. Yes answer: I don't care, besides I don't think the waitress knows who we are. Olé tus huevos man, that humility and good vibes is what the world needs ❤️.

And to top it off, something that really caught my attention: The venue, Stage Live in Bilbao, is cheaper than a certain well known venue in Oviedo where we go a lot. That's where I leave it.

As always, for one reason or another, another night that these blondes will remember forever.
